Wearables are picking up in popularity nowadays, and other companies outside Samsung and Apple are also venturing into the market.
Two of those companies are Huawei with its Huawei Watch, and ZTE with its Axon Watch.
The ZTE Axon Watch apparently attempts to incur the feel of an old-fashioned watch melded with the technology of electronics nowadays. It has a 1.4-inch circular glass display, NDTV said, reportedly fitted with Corning Gorilla and coated with sapphire.
The Axon Watch’s specs are quite impressive. NDTV’s reported specified a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, together with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of native storage space. It will also be capable of Bluetooth and will be powered by a 300 mAh battery.
NDTV added that the wearable will have plenty of functions including a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic, and barometer.
GSM Arena revealed that the Axon Watch will be exclusive to China, and will not run on Android. Instead, it will run on the Tencent OS.
It appears that the Huawei Watch, also made by a Chinese company, will share most of the specifications found in the Axon Watch.
The Tech Times said that the Huawei Watch will also sport a 1.4-inch circular glass display, reportedly employing AMOLED technology.
The article also revealed that the Huawei Watch will have a Snapdragon 400 processor, backed up by 512MB of RAM. The Huawei Watch’s internal storage space is also at 4GB. It will have Bluetooth connectivity, a heart rate monitor, an accelerometer and a vibration monitor, among other features.
There will, however, be plenty of customization options for people buying the Huawei Watch. According to the Tech Times, customers can choose between silver, black and gold finishes for the 42mm stainless steel body of the Huawei Watch. They can choose between stainless steel or leather as materials for the band.
Being powered by Android Wear, the Huawei Watch will give users access to Google Now, a feature not found in the Tencent-powered ZTE Axon Watch.
