Since leaving One Direction last year, Zayn Malik has relatively kept himself in the spotlight via his own schedules and appearances. And while the initial reason given on why he was departing the group was because he wanted to take a break from all the limelight, he only garnered much more attention since then.
When Malik finally released an official project, like the black and white photo cover for his first solo song since leaving the band, it was met with much excitement from his fans.
Malik’s song titled “Pillowtalk” is slated to be released this Friday, and some promotional roundups will also be on the singer’s schedule to bring the single more attention. Unfortunately, his first guest appearance, scheduled to be in “The Graham Norton Show,” has been cancelled.
Fortunately, he has already filmed his first broadcast interview with Zane Low on Beats 1. Low has been constantly teasing the interview, even releasing a snippet where Malik revealed that from day one, he knew he wanted to get out of One Direction.
“I think I always kind of wanted to go. From like the first year really, I never really wanted to be there in the band. I just gave it a go because it was there at the time and then when I realized the direction we were going in with the music, I instantly realized it wasn’t for me because I realized I couldn’t put any input in; I couldn’t give my opinion on this or that because it didn’t fit the grain of what we were as a band or what we represented. So that’s when it became frustrating for me, that’s when I had to be like, I’ve got to start thinking about myself,” the singer further explained.
Although there is still no specific date on when fans can get the full album from Malik, reports said that it is targeted for a spring release.
