Although the Sony Xperia Z5 only made its way last October, speculations regarding the next phone are already circulating online.
According to 3g.co.uk, the Xperia Z6 may be unveiled next year, the earliest date of presentation during the Mobile World Congress 2016 which will happen on Feb. 22 to 26 in Barcelona, Spain. The report continued that this will be followed by its launch in March. This is based on the company’s previous releases wherein they have devices being presented every after six months.
Tech Times speculated that the Xperia Z6 may be ready for its press debut as some of its key specifications are reportedly already lined up. What may have added to the assumption is that Sony is said to be arranging a press conference for 2016 CES which will take place in January, with invites already sent to several concerned parties.
However, some reports claim that even though Sony may be in the last stages of development for the handheld device, January 2016 is still too early for the release. GSM Arena shared that fans are not expecting much from the CES, only a confirmation of some details such as new gadgets and schedules of when they will hit the market.
Meanwhile, it is also possible that the Xperia Z6 may come later around September or October. In an interview with Tech Radar, Sony’s Art Director Rikke Gertsen reportedly shared that her department is working on smartphones for the second half of 2016, all the way up to 2018.
When it comes to the design, the unit may not differ so much from its predecessor as it is deemed to feature the same 5.2-inch screen with 1080×1920 resolution and pixel density of 428 pixels per inch. Under the hood, it may be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor combined with 4GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the camera may boast a stunning 20.7-megapixel capacity.
Since Sony has yet to make anything official, available information should be taken with a grain of salt.
