Xiaomi recently unveiled a new variant of its new Redmi Note 3 phablet flagship. A new Redmi Note 3 is now available, rocking under its hood a Snapdragon 650 chipset. The device is now available for purchase, and Xiaomi is also giving away 100 units of the new variant of the device to 100 lucky Mi fans from India.
As detailed through the company’s official MIUI forum, Xiaomi had taken pride on the new Redmi note 3 as a phablet that was the first one of their devices to sport a fingerprint sensor. Moreover, despite the device sporting a set of premium level specs, they have maintained the Redmi Note 3 to have a budget friendly price.
With that, a new variant of the device was announced, this time running under the newly renamed Snapdragon 650previously called the Snapdragon 618and with support for all mobile carriers in the Chinese region.
The physical features of the new Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon 650 variant remains the samethe slim 8.65 mm thin full metal body and a lightweight build of only 164 grams. It comes with a hexa-core CPUa dual-core ARM Cortex A72 and a quad-core ARM Cortex A53clocking in at a speed of up to 1.8 GHz. An Adreno 510 GPU handles the graphics of the device for media playback and gaming.
As mentioned, the new variant of the device now supports all mobile carriers in China. The device is also capable of handling 4G+ network connection, which brings speeds that are significantly faster than standard 4G connection.
The camera also saw an improvement, as it sports a 16-megapixel main rear camera, with an ultra-fast 0.1-second Phase Detection Auto Focus, and a 5 megapixels front facing snapper. It comes powered by a 4,050 mAh battery.
The 2GB RAM/16GB ROM version is available for 999 or around $151 USD. There will also be a 3GB RAM/32GB ROM version, but price information is yet to be announced.
