Xiaomi Mi 5S release date, specs rumors: leaked AnTuTu benchmark scores suggest a monster device

Xiaomi literally wants to make a big impression in markets outside the bounds of its home country, China, by unveiling one monster device after another. And this time, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5S is another one that theoretically comes with specs that could easily compete with or even surpass the flagship devices of mainstream brands. Based on the latest teaser, the device comes away with an impressive benchmark performance score.

According to GSM Arena, a recent number emerged, 164,119, which seemingly hands out a clue that another device from the Chinese brand is arriving and that it potentially comes with high-end technology to boost performance.

To recall, reports have it that a new, unannounced handset is going to feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor along with a 3-D touch feature, and based on this recent teaser, those two might very well be true after all, not just mere rumors.

So far, the Xiaomi Mi 5S is known to be equipped with the best possible set of hardware specifications for the mid-range phone, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 6 GB of random access memory (RAM), and 256 GB of internal storage. Those alone are monstrous numbers that the likes of Samsung and HTC will certainly be worried about. Xiaomi hasn’t really infiltrated the North American and European markets, but judging by those specs, this phone is more than sufficient to compete in those areas.

Moreover, the Mi 5S is also rumored to sport a 5.15-inch screen and a 3,490 mAh battery, both of which are significantly smaller than the 5.5-inch trend and 4,000 mAh battery standards for smartphones today. However, the AnTuTu benchmark performance score alone should give this upcoming device the chance to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7.

The new device is reportedly slated for a Sept. 27 launch in China.
