The new and upcoming flagship smartphone form Xiaomi, the long-rumored Xiaomi Mi 5, had been in the rumor mill for several months now. Repeatedly speculated to be released in various Xiaomi events in the past, the Mi 5 flagship is still seemingly far from being a reality. Now, a new and upcoming Xiaomi event is once again expected to be the launching event of the Mi 5 flagship.
Xiaomi just announced a product launch event next week at the China National Convention Center. The event will take place on Nov. 24, and event attendees are limited to only 500 people. Those who are interested to witness the launch event can now buy their tickets for 199 Yuan, or at a price equivalent of $31.
However, Xiaomi did not specify what device or devices they would be launching much less a teaser of some sort. Still, Xiaomi co-founder Lin Bin posted via Weibo an invitation image for the November 24 event.
Another device speculated to be launched during the event is the rumored Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro. Since the device recently passed though Chinese certification body TENAA, the Redmi Note 2 Pro has been expected to be unveiled anytime soon.
Previous rumors regarding the Mi 5 flagship pointed out that the device will have a 5.3-inch display with Quad HD resolution. It will be equipped with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection as well. A QUALCOMM Snapdragon 820 chip is expected to be running on the device. As for the camera, it is expected to come with a 16-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 and Xiaomi’s very own MIUI on top of it. The device will be powered by a 3000mAh battery and might be sold at around $386.
As per the details found on the TENAA listing, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is pwoered by MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 chipset with 2.0GHz CPU. Sporting a set of hardware specs almost identical to the Redmi Note 2, the device packs the same 2 GB RAM, along with 16 GB worth of built-in internal storage capacity. It sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080p Full HD resolution. As for the camera, the new Redmi Note 2 Pro will also be coming with a 13-megapixel main rear camera. Just below the rear camera is a dual tone LED flash. Gracing the front of the device is a 5-megapixel camera. The device is powered by a 3, 060mAh battery and runs on Android Lollipop 5.0.1.
Both the Mi 5 and the Redmi Note 2 Pro are set to be the first set of devices from Xiaomi featuring fingerprint sensors.
