Xiaomi just recently announced the first batch of their devices that will be getting the newest version of Androidthe Android Marshmallow 6.0. As per Xiaomi, the Mi 4 flagship phone and the Mi Note will be the first to get the said OS.
According to a report by Gizmo China, the Xiaomi MUIU Operations manager announced via a Weibo post that the company will be rolling out the Android Marshmallow 6.0 update soon, as no specific release date was given.
While Android Marshmallow will give the devices new features and functions, the MIUI running on top of the updated operating system will stay at the latest MIUI 7 version.
The new Xiaomi MIUI 7, through Xiaomi’s partnership with Opera Max, works to save data usage when connected to the internet for up to 50 percent. The MIUI 7 also works better by launching apps and performing tasks for up to 30 percent faster compared to the previous MIUI 6. It also extends battery life for up to 25 pecent or up to three hours more power per day.
In other news, owners of the Mi 4 have been enjoying some treat for a while now, as Xiaomi also recently released the long promised Windows 10 operating system for the LTE version of the Mi 4 smartphone.
While the Windows 10 ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 4 is admittedly not 100 percent bug freeas the software is still under continuous development by Xiaomi and Microsoftusers are still encouraged to download the ROM so that their devices can be upgraded further.
The Windows 10 ROM can be obtained here, but users must register under the Microsoft Insider program first. Users who will choose to revert back to the default Android operating system with MIUI can still do so.
