All new X-Men installment “X-Men: Apocalypse” will include Gambit’s possible appearance and Wolverine’s Weapon X version in the post-credit scenes which will be a way to usher in prospective “X-Men” movies in the future.
In an interview with Collider, “X-Men: Apocalypse” writer and co-producer Simon Kinberg dropped hints about these potential appearances. He said, “It’s a nod toward potentially a lot of different movies. I mean certainly the ‘Wolverine’ movie is related to what happens at the end of it, but there’s also another character that’s introduced, at least in name, in the tag and he could show up in any host of different ‘X-Men’ films. Maybe a ‘Gambit’ movie, maybe another ‘X-Men’ movie.” However, Kinberg explained further that he did not say any particular characters but only hinted who else might take part in future projects such as “New Mutants”, “Wolverine 3,” or the next “X-Men” sequel.
With its massively expensive production and big actors, the latest “X-Men” film has harvested a rather global attention for itself. It will star regulars like Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence who reprise their respective roles from past “X-Men” installments plus newer additions such as Storm portrayed by Alexandra Shipp. Shipp envisions a standalone movie for her character and Black Panther.
When Observ spoke to Shipp, the actress showed great interest in a StormBlack Panther spin-off. She remarked: “I want that movie so bad, I’ve got a pitch. I’m like coming up with a vision board, I want this movie to happen.” She even added that it does not necessarily have to be her to play Storm in the single-plot StormBlack Panther movie she has in mind. “That’s fine, at least make the movie,” says Shipp.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” will take place in the ’90s wherein the heroes join forces to defeat a supervillain in the name of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) who is the world’s first mutant. He will wake in Cairo after hibernation in old Egypt with the mission of global domination. A younger Professor X (McAvoy) will seek to take down Apocalypse with the help of his school’s mutant students.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is the ninth installment of the X-Men film franchise. It will open in theaters on May 27.
