Yet another film is set to make use of the massive audience expected to come with the higly anticipated film “Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens”. This time, FOX’s upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse” is reported to debut its first trailer along with the screening of “The Force Awakens”.
In an interview with Collider, “X-Men: Apocalypse” co-writer and producer Simon Kinberg revealed that they will attach their first release of the trailer to “The Force Awakens”.
“I can in fact confirm that information,” Kinberg said. “Our first trailer will be on ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. It’s our first thing out there so it is somewhat of a teaser but it’s certainly longer than a minute and it has a ton of cool stuff in it.”
In a previous interview with MTV News, Kinberg said that two other upcoming and much-awaited titles form the studioDeadpool and Gambithave a shared universe that will let them have a crossover interaction in the future. The universe exists after the time of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it seems.
“The idea is that we’ve sort of reset the timeline after Days of Future Past in some ways, and if not erased, certainly allowed for change from X1, 2, 3, everything from Days of Future Past forward, 1973, everything we set now becomes canon,” said Kinberg. “So the Gambit movie, the Deadpool movie, will exist in a world that acknowledges whatever happened in Days of Future Past and moving forward. Doesn’t mean they’ll always interact with those characters, obviously, it’s not like every movie has all the characters, but they all have to exist within the same rules. There will be interplay between different characters in different movies.”
“X-Men: Apocalypse” takes place ten years following the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. The team of mutants led by Charles Xavierplayed by James McAvoyand Raven/Mystiqueplayed by Jennifer Lawrence, as they face a new foe: the millennium-old mutant Apocalypseplayed by Oscar Isaac. With his Four Horsemen of the ApocalypseMagneto, played by Michael Fassbender; Storm, played by Alexandra Shipp; Angel, played Ben Hardy; and Psylocke, played by Olivia Munn, Apocalypse is bound to be the most formidable opponent the mutants have to face thus far.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” will also introduce a younger version of familiar characters from previous films such as Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
