Warner Bros. Pictures recently revealed the second trailer for the much-awaited standalone film of DC Comics superhero “Wonder Woman,” featuring Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashing into the land of the Amazons and discovering Princess Diana (Gal Gadot) and her people.
The clip opens with the modern-day version of Diana while in Paris. She states, “I used to want to save the world. This beautiful place; but the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within. I learned this the hard way, a long, long time ago.”
An epic showdown between the horse-riding Amazons and invaders to their island of Themyscira then begins to ensue.
After saving Steve from a near-death experience, he appears in front of the council. When asked what about his purpose, he says, “I want to stop the war the war to end all wars… Whoever you are, you are in more danger than what you think.”
Diana then asks permission to help fight in World War I against the Germans. During a showdown with a German officer, played by Danny Huston, it can be seen that the latter is on the receiving end of her fatal whips and blows.
There are speculations that Huston’s character is no ordinary man but actually the Ancient Greek God of War, Ares. Screenrant shares that the god has been known to use disguises to instigate conflict and battles to make himself powerful. In the DC Comics canon, he was also an enemy of Wonder Woman and planned to use the said war to fuel his hunger.
On a related note, Pine debunked the rumors that he will have multiple roles in the film. Some suggest that since Diana is immortal, she will meet Steve’s grandson in the present time and the character will also be portrayed by the actor. In an interview with The Huffington Post, the actor said that it will not be the case.
Meanwhile, Gadot shared in a separate interview that it is possible that Wonder Woman could be bisexual. If it translates it to the big screen, the star mused that she wants Halle Berry to become the love interest.
“I saw her the other day, Halle Berry. She’s so beautiful. Wow! She’s gorgeous! So… yeah, I could do it with her,” she said.
The actress also revealed that she is expecting baby No. 2 with husband Yaron Versano.
“Wonder Woman” is slated to hit the theaters on June 2, 2017.
