A new trailer for the upcoming American superhero film, “Wonder Woman” has just been released by Warner Bros. Pictures and it shows just how significant changes have been in the way women are portrayed in big-budget flicks. The film, which is based on a DC Comics character, showcases Diana (Gal Gadot) as she becomes an unlikely superhero who will emerge out of the ashes of history.

The latest teaser, which can be seen below, looks at a time in Diana’s life when her land, Themyscira, is invaded by a group of men and someone close to her becomes one of the fatalities. However, the main storyline is centered on Diana’s unlikely team-up with a man as they fight in the First World War.

Directed by Patty Jenkins (“Monster”), “Wonder Woman” tells the story of Diana, an Amazonian princess who has lived all her life in an isolated island where becoming a fighter is the only thing that matters. But after a U.S pilot named Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) crashes his plane on the island, both characters form an unlikely partnership after Trevor tells Diana of a war that’s about to happen.

Per The Telegraph, Diana’s mission to save the world as it puts itself on the verge of a war is founded on the perception that it is a beautiful place that needs saving, although she eventually realizes how dark it can be. As she mingles with society she has never encountered before, she will have to change her ways, including the way she interacts with other people and the way she dresses, obviously.

Aside from Gadot and Pine, this fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe also stars Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, and Elena Anaya, among others.

“Wonder Woman” is set to hit the big screen on June 2, 2017.
