Despite the cries of fans, there is no news or movement yet for a third season of the Witches of East End.
Earlier this year, Robert Sharenow, chief of the Lifetime network that runs the series, said that “Witches of East End is the hardest to cancel as it has led angry fans to petition for a renewal,” as reported in MNR Daily. The petition has reached around 200,000 signatures to date, pleading for a third season of the series, but there is still no confirmation or positive action from the network about an installment.
The instigator of the petition, Kathryn Perry said: “It just about ripped out the hearts of every WoEE fan…if we don’t pull together and show our support for this outstanding television show, this movie will never be made!” and encourages fans to sign, reported on the same news portal.
One of the reasons why fans would love to see a sequel series is because season two’s story was left hanging when it was cancelled. However, the prospects of a third season may be bleak as one of the stars has joined a different series. Jenna Tatum, who played Freya in Witches of East End, is reportedly joining the upcoming superhero series, Supergirl, playing Lucy Lane, Lois Lane’s older sister. Her character is described as “brash, funny, beautiful” as well as “strong, smart and successful in her own right,” as mentioned in Enstarz. She will appear in the third episode of Supergirl.
Witches of East End is an America television series revolving around the story of a witch family living in a fictional location called East End. It is a fantasy and comedy drama starring Joanna Beauchamp (Julia Ormond) as the main character, along with her sister Wendy Beauchamp (Madchen Amick) and her daughters Freya Beauchamp (Jenna Dewan Tatum) and Ingrid Beauchamp (Rachel Boston). It is based on a novel by Melissa dela Cruz, with the same book name.
The first episode premiered on October 2013 with 13 episodes and then renewed for a new season which aired in July 2014. However, they show was cancelled because of a decline in ratings, airing its final show in October last year.
