“Wayward Pines” season 3 is still uncertain, but should it push through, it may feature a time jump where humans and abbies coexist in the world peacefully.
The finale of the last season left “Wayward Pines” season 3 to start in any way the writers want. The season 2 ending featured humans entering cryogenic sleep, which may mean that the next season would open after a time jump, Ecumenical News reported.
It is unknown how far into the future “Wayward Pines” season 3 would go, but it is possible to be 1,000 years forward into a world where abbies and humans will no longer fight each other.
Meanwhile, it is also said that the human-looking baby that an abby was holding at the season 2 finale was a key element in the plot of the next season.
Author Blake Crouch previously hinted to Entertainment Weekly that abbies are also undergoing evolution.
“Evolution has always pushed forward,” said Crouch, “and [the scene] suggests that the Abbies are changing also.”
“The Abbies will evolve into something else,” he added.
He also teased that the Wayward Pines residents who emerged from the pods might find a whole different world when they wake up.
There are speculations that this baby might be neither abby nor human. According to Bustle, fans should not conclude outright that the baby is either, because it might be something different altogether.
The hint came from Crouch’s statement to EW that says that human evolution cannot be reversed. Meaning, the baby could not have evolved back to human, but since it evolved, it is something new entirely.
Meanwhile, the fate of the series is still unknown, but according to FOX, there is likely to be a season 3, Vine Report previously covered.
As of now, fans can only wait for an official announcement regarding “Wayward Pines” season 3.
