Vikings Season 4: Bjorn to take revenge against Rollo for his betrayal

History Channel’s Vikings may finally be saying goodbye top actor Travis Fimmel’s iconic character Ragnar Lothbrok this season but the cause of his death may not be as cut and dried as his illness.

According to Realty Today, while executive producer Michael Hirst has hinted at Ragnar’s eventual death due to his failing health, there is also a possibility that his death may also have something to do with a possible conflict with his second wife Aslaug as it was reported that Ragnar may develop a new love interest this season in the person of Chinese slave Yidu, a character which will be played by Diane Doan. Yidu is among the slaves captured by the Vikings from the siege of Paris. It has been reported that Hirst has written some really great scenes for the character.

However, according to the VCPost, the romantic interest may also come in the form of Princess Kwenthrith (Amy Bailey), whom Ragnar cheated on his wife with.

Another report by Day Herald, on the other hand indicated that this season will focus heavily on Ragnar’s eldest son Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) who is being eyed as his father’s successor to the throne.

Still, he is expected to face strong opposition from his brother Ivor.

Aside from his claim to the throne, it is expected that Bjorn will lead measures to take revenge against his uncle Rollo, who has abandoned them and sided with the enemy in exchange for lands and a lofty position.

“He’s so hurt and he’s going to kill him. In his eyes, there’s certain things you can’t forgive,” he said in an interview with Zap2it.

Meanwhile, Rollo’s betrayal may also backfire on him as he faces difficulties with the people that he has betrayed his own people for.

Vikings Season 4 will return to the History Channel sometime in 2016.
