The “Uncharted 4 Multiplayer’ has finally been revealed to the world, at the PlayStation press conference during this year’s Paris Games Week, showing off gameplay, new mechanics, as well as new features.
“Over the course of development for Uncharted 4 Multiplayer there have been a number of ideas that sounded great on paper, which were tried and failed,” said Robert Cogburn, Lead Game Developer at Naughty Dog. “This happened time and time again but through each iteration there was one nugget of ‘that is cool’ that we would cling to and bring with us into the next iteration. We were constantly applying our lessons learned on our previous experiences with Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, and The Last of Us which helped shape an incredibly exciting, fast, and deeply rich multiplayer game.”
There are a number of new features that can be found on the new multiplayer mode for “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End,” but Naughty Dog highlighted the top three new things players should be excited about.
- Sidekicks: Playing a lone man can be tough sometimes. So when in a tight spot or in a seemingly losing situation, players can now call on their Sidekick. These are computer-controlled characters that offer assistance with “unique abilities: that can help any player get out of any tight spot.
- Mysticals: Know in the world of “Uncharted,” these Mysticals give a player a wide variation of unique abilitites that may come handy at any point during gameplay
- Melee Attacking: Naughty Dog tweaked the grappling hook to be leveraged on some locations on multiplayer maps. Now, players can also jump on people and take them down totally with the use of hands alone.
The “Uncharted 4 Multiplayer” was demoed live at the Paris Games Week, was demoed again at PAX Australia on Oct. 30, and will be shown at the Lisboa Games Week on Nov. 5.
Gamers can score a spot for the Multiplayer beta by purchasing “Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.” The beta will run from Dec. 4 to 13.
“Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” will be released on March 18, 2016.
