'Uncharted 4' DLC release date, news: Upcoming expansion to be full-length, standalone game

It may well seem that game developer Naughty Dog won’t be announcing a follow-up to “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” just yet. New intel suggests that the game maker is currently working on the game’s downloadable content that could be announced soon.

Rumors are getting rife that the undisclosed game expansion could possibly be introduced at this year’s PlayStation Experience (PSX) to be held early next month. Moreover, it is also believed that the upcoming segment will be just like a full-length game that can be acquired without getting the base game. It is also expected that it will give the title’s protagonist, Nathan Drake, another storyline to explore and at the same time, extending the lifespan of the acclaimed title.

According to Let’s Play Video Games, Troy Baker, who voiced the role of Nathan Drake’s big brother, Sam, stated that the looming DLC will be one of the most ambitious game segments that the developer has ever come up with. The publication’s sources also revealed that the new expansion will showcase another treasure hunting adventure for the duo.

Meanwhile, some fans were expecting that Nathan’s daughter, Cassie, would become the new protagonist of the game segment or at least be a part of it. However, it is said that Cassie won’t be featured in the standalone expansion.

It’s also noteworthy that this will be the title’s first ever extended content as the recently released game is reportedly the final episode in the game series. Nonetheless, with a game franchise that has been getting commendations from both players and game buffs, it will be just a matter of time before Naughty Dog will surprise its fans with another installment of “Uncharted.”

With that said, fans are advised to keep themselves updated with the latest news regarding “Uncharted 4” as well as the forthcoming PSX 2016.
