New details regarding Naughty Dogs’ highly anticipated action-adventure “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” were revealed during the recent PlayStation Experience 2015 event alongside the screening of the new teaser.
In the trailer, fans were able to have a look at the touted new antagonist named Nadine Ross played by Laura Bailey. She is described as the dangerous South African leader of an army called the Shoreline, “Her dad was a general in the army. He took all the best soldiers and started a group that runs amok all over the world and does horrible things,” teased game director Neil Druckman to IGN.
Nadine is also revealed to be somehow acquainted with the character Victor Sullivan also known as Sully. In a footage during a party, Nadine offers the treasure hunter a drink, and their exchange was heard by protagonist Nathan Drake using his earpiece.
Druckman also addressed some controversies regarding the racial swap that the black character is being played by a white actor, “What’s so awesome about our medium is your outward appearance doesn’t matter at all.” He added that Bailey and her performance was perfect for the role and it was the best call for “Uncharted 4.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with Kotaku, lead game designer Robert Cogburn gave light on why the upcoming installment will be the last one in the franchise. He shared that with Nathan and having a fairly grounded setting, it is difficult to expand the universe where the game revolves and follow the rules.
He added that the game series somehow have boxed the studio, and they want to stretch their wings into trying out new ventures. “As a studio, we grow tired of answering those same types of questions in the same fiction. It’s gonna be fun for us to really embark on new ideas and start fleshing those out [in a new series].”
“Uncharted 4” is slated to be released on March 18, 2016, while the multiplayer beta version of the game is currently rolling out.
