The latest installment of the “Transformers” live-action film franchise titled “Transformers: The Last Knight” is still a year away from its release, but there already is a noticeable amount of excitement for the upcoming flick, thanks to a flurry of news and information coming from several sources, including the film’s production crew.
The latest teaser came from director Michael Bay himself, who used Twitter to give a glimpse of one of the new villains in the fifth installment of his science fiction action movie franchise.
The new robot villain, named “Onslaught,” gives a pretty clear idea on what is about to happen to the world when this bad guy begins wreaking havoc. Per Cinema Blend, Bay succeeded in trying to dig a bit deeper into the original “Transformers” material by giving a “fairly accurate representation” of the new villain. The same report also said that the introduction of Onslaught is a clear indication that this next film is going to feature a new class of evil robots from outer space, the Combaticons.
Per IGN, Onslaught is a big-time bad robot guy. He’s a tactical leader who combines with other Combaticons in order to form a gigantic robot called Bruticus. The Combaticons aren’t really that different because they actually are some kind of subordinate group to the Decepticons.
Now it should be pretty interesting how everything will shape up in the new film as previous reports also revealed that Megatron will be making his return, which literally means the entire Earth will be threatened by a robot maniac seeking revenge.
“Transformers: The Last Knight” brings back Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) as the lead character, while two actors who appeared in previous installments prior to 2014’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” will also be making their return, namely Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson, both of which appeared in the first three films of the franchise.
The upcoming film is set to hit the big screen on June 23, 2017.
