It has been more than a year since the premiere of the second season of “Tokyo Ghoul,” and fans of the animated series have been waiting for the third installment of the show. Recently, FUNimation released a statement saying that they will push through with the third season of the series, but the content might be different from the original manga as reported by Movie News Guide.
The fan base of the series was divided by this statement. Some of the loyal viewers of the show were happy that the third season is on the works, while other fans are not as happy with the decision.
Those who were upset filed a petition for the series to be rebooted instead of diverting from the main storyline of the manga. According to Kpop Starz, fans even made use of the Wikia page of the series in order to voice out their concerns.
Moreover, loyal viewers of the animated series were satisfied with the first season of the show since it stuck to the original content of the show. Sadly, everything changed in the second season of the show since there were some parts that departed from the manga’s content.
Meanwhile, the reason for the postponement of the third season of “Tokyo Ghoul” is because the series was already able to catch up with the manga. There was not enough source material for the show to push through immediately. Even though 43 chapters were already released last October 2015, it may still not be sufficient for one season that contains original content from the manga as reported by Crossmap.
There is a possibility that the third season of “Tokyo Ghoul” will postpone its premiere from 2016 to 2017.
