Connections that will apparently tie Planet Hulk to the upcoming Marvel film, “Thor: Ragnarok” have been revealed as another comic character named Miek has been confirmed to join the ensemble.
It can be recalled that in the recent team-up movie, “Captain America: Civil War,” Bruce Banner who is also known as the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the God of Thunder, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) were noticeably absent. According to Geek Exchange, Banner may have been exiled from Earth by the mysterious group Illuminati following his lashing out during the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
Despite there being no official confirmation that Illuminati will make an appearance on the big screen, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and actor Benedict Cumberbatch who portrays Dr. Strange apparently teased the organization’s role in the franchise.
Described as a secret group composed of most powerful and intelligent superheroes, its members include the Sorcerer Supreme, Iron Man, Namor, The Sub-Mariner, Professor Charles Xavier, Inhuman King Black Bolt, and Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.
During an impromptu Facebook Live broadcast from the movie set in the Gold Coast, Australia, director Taika Waititi, flanked by stars Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, let it slip that an actor by the name of Steve will be playing Miek.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that those who read the comics will recall that Miek is an alien who teamed up with the Hulk. They overthrow a despotic regime in order to survive on the planet of Sakaar, with Red King as their main villain who forced slaves to fight gladiatorial battles.
Although there is no mention of the Red King for the third standalone film of the Asgardian prince, reports claim that Thor will be fighting the antagonist called Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) who happens to have the same characteristics. He is defined to be a cosmic being who likes to pit creatures against each other for his own amusement.
“Thor: Ragnarok” will premiere on the big screen on Nov. 3, 2017.
