'Thor: Ragnarok' spoilers, news: Director Taika Waititi teases Korg\'s return; film to feature \'Planet Hulk\' storyline?

Remember the giant rock-skinned monster that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) fought with in “The Dark World”? Well, that guy may show up in “Thor: Ragnarok” despite getting smashed to bits in the previous film.

Director Taika Waititi recently posted a photo on his Instagram showing a strangely colored keyboard with a Korg pedal on top of it, and this photo led many fans to speculate that Korg might appear in the upcoming film.

While the creature that fought Thor was never named, many assumed that it was Korg. But what if that wasn’t Korg but some random Kronan? It should be noted that the comic book version of Korg isn’t exactly a lightweight. In fact, he was an ally of the Hulk during the “Planet Hulk” storyline in the comics.

Speaking of “Planet Hulk,” several sources believe “Thor: Ragnarok” will combine elements from the “Planet Hulk” and “Ragnarok” storylines from the comics. Will Korg appear as an ally of Hulk as well in the film?

According to Schmoes Know, the upcoming film will have gladiator-like matches featuring Thor and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) is allegedly running the show with Skurge (Karl Urban) by his side. It is also rumored that the two heroes will ally themselves with Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) to escape the gladiator arena so they can prevent Ragnarok from happening.

It is rumored that all of this started when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) banished Thor from Asgard, while Hela (Cate Blanchett) supposedly destroys Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. This event leads Thor to journey to a gladiator world where he has to fight the current champion who just happens to be the Hulk.

As of this moment, Marvel Studios has yet to reveal the plot details for “Thor: Ragnarok,” so readers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt.

“Thor: Ragnarok” will premiere on Nov. 3, 2017.
