Actor Karl Urban has been promoting his film “Star Trek Beyond,” but at the same time he is already preparing for his role in the upcoming movie, “Thor: Ragnarok.”
Urban talked to IGN to reveal details about his preparation for the role. The actor has stated that in order to prepare himself physically for Skurge the Executioner, he has been going to the gym more and at the same time he has been trying to eat the right kinds of food. However, the actor has mentioned that there it is a bit of irony in that he has been putting on so much muscle yet it won’t be seen because of the costume he is going to wear. Nevertheless, he stated that he still needs to bulk up in order to internalize his character and also to prepare mentally.
Urban is also preparing to shave his head bald in order to take on the full form of the character. The actor also talked about why he had a keen interest in the film. He had heard that the screen adaptation was really good and that the movie will be full of action. Furthermore, there are also great new characters that have not been shown in the previous movies of “Thor.”
He shared it by saying, “When I heard who was involved … and [saw] the opportunity to work with [director] Taika Waititi, who I think is one of the most brilliant directors coming through, I made the decision it was something that I wanted to be a part of. And the character is fantastic. He’s got a great arc to him. Obviously I can’t say too much about it, but I’m really thrilled to be a part of the Marvel universe and to be working on ‘Thor: Ragnarok.'”
Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor and Mark Ruffalo will also be present in the film as Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
“Thor: Ragnarok” is slated to be released on Nov. 3, 2017.
