'Thor 3: Ragnarok' movie: Cate Blanchett in talks for a part; Valkyrie, Enchantress or Queen Hela?

Cate Blanchett may soon be added to the cast of talented actors appearing in Marvel’s “Thor: Ragnarok.”

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Blanchett is being eyed to play a female although it has not been confirmed what role she will play or even if she accepts the offer.

A report by Movie Pilot suggests several possible roles for the acclaimed actress based on her looks and track record in films.

Among the ideas being floated is the role of the Enchantress, a known nemesis of Thor who also hails from Asgard. The character is regarded as one of the most powerful sorceresses in the universe and is able to perform mind control and manipulate people with her charm.

Another role that could be a good fit for Blanchett is the role of Queen Hela, one of Loki’s children, whom he could ask to help him in his bid to end Asgard. While the chances are slim given that Tom Hiddleston is not old enough to play Blanchett’s parent, the rumors came about because of reports that Hela will will be featured in the movie.

Another possibility would be the character of Valkyrie, but unlike the other two choices, this role is a heroine born in Asgard and handpicked by Odin himself to lead a team of human women. The character is considered a strong possibility because she is a member of the Avengers and the Defenders. The character has also been confirmed to appear in “Thor: Ragnarok.”

As of now, fans need to sit tight and wait for an official confirmation from Marvel as to whether Blanchett will join the roster of superheroes and villains in the franchise.

“Thor: Ragnarok” is set to be released on July 28, 2017.
