'The Big Bang Theory' news: Will season 10 be its last? showrunner says it's a possibility; assures fans that they still have a lot more to offer

In more ways than one, fans may see some similarities with 90’s hit TV sitcom “Friends” and current smash “The Big Bang Theory.” They might have different approaches and core anchor in the story, but both shows revolve around six friends, some of them fell in love with each other. Moreover, based on some reports, both might end after a 10-season run.

This might be such a shock to followers of the show given how the current season has panned out. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) just made a big step on their relationship by being intimate, and Leonard (John Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) finally got married. There seems to be a lot of new plots and subplots that can be explored.

Unfortunately, when producer Steve Molaro was asked by The Hollywood Reporter, he candidly said that the team may be looking at the last outing of the gang. “I think so. I can’t speak to the future or on behalf of the cast or where we’ll be then but it’s certainly possible that it could go past that.”

The hit show has been renewed until next year, and all the characters are locked in with multi-year deals. However, Molaro seems open to close the curtain on the sitcom after next season.

“The reality is that maybe season 10 is the ending point. The real answer is I don’t know and all I can do right now is go episode to episode and try to make each one the best that we can,” the showrunner said.

Then again, he was also quick to say that whether season 10 will be their last or not, fans can still look forward to a lot more from the show given how many episodes still are left.

“There’s still so many episodes to go. Even if hypothetically season 10 was the end, I wouldn’t be focusing on that yet. That seems like something that would be dealt with way down the line.”
