The X-Files reboot update: Annabeth Gish returns as Agent Reyes; First look at Mulder and Scully

The hype is beginning to escalate as “The X-Files” reboot first sneak peek has been revealed by Fox Broadcasting to prepare fans for the season premiere on January 24, 2016.

At the end of 15-second clip, Fox Mulder asked Dana Scully, “Are you ready for this, Scully?” to which she answered with, “I don’t know there’s a choice.”

The iconic couple played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will not be in a romantic relationship when the show gets back on air. According to E! Online, it may be a good thing as it can give writers something entirely new to work on. Their supporters do not need to worry though, as there will be no animosity when the pair go to the field as FBI agents and paranormal investigators.

Meanwhile, returning to the six-episode limited series is Annabeth Gish who will reprise her role as FBI Agent Monica Reyes.

She was first introduced in 2000 during season eight to presumably add more plots to the show when Duchovny did not come back because of some problems in his contract. She had a partner in the form of Agent John Doggett, portrayed by actor Robert Patrick.

Patrick, on the other hand, confirmed that he will not be on board for the revival.

Talking to The Mary Sue, he mentioned that, “I’ll set the record straight with you. I’m not going to do it. I’m very happy with the job I have. I’m content and happy and I don’t really see a reason to go and revisit that show. It’s not that I wouldn’t be interested … I just don’t know what the reason is to both at the same time,” he said.

When it comes to season premiere episode plot, it was previously mentioned that Scully and Mulder will take on a case of a possible alien abductee with a talk show host prodding them to investigate in the wrong direction.

Duchovny also shared that Mulder may not be in a good shape, “He’s wearing bad jeans, so you can just extrapolate from my wardrobe. He’s in a dark, dark place,” he said.
