“The Winds of Winter” doesn’t have a release date set as George R.R. Martin has yet to revealed anything about it. After all, the HBO adaptation of his novel already went past the available source material, but regardless, plot rumors have not stopped circulating.
According to Ecumenical News, Martin is well-known as an imaginative author with a penchant for killing off characters regardless of their popularity. It was so bad that the author has become a literary trope.
However, after speaking in an International Book Fair, Martin revealed that there will be more incoming deaths. He even went so far as to say that winter is supposed to be when things are supposed to die where cold, ice, and darkness fills the world.
Of course, character deaths are unstoppable, but some rumors are pointing out that one of the most popular characters in the series will get the axe of death in “The Winds of Winter.” The feisty Bear Island ruler Lyanna Mormont might not fare well in the new book, despite the fact that her television counterpart will get another season’s worth of presence.
Lyanna is rumored to die in “The Winds of Winter,” but it is not yet revealed whether or not the HBO series will follow the footsteps of the novel if the rumor turns out to be true. However, if it does come true, then it will not be the first time that the show strayed from the novel.
Meanwhile, Enstarz reports that it could be possible for the final installment of “A Song of Ice and Fire” to have a happy ending. After all, “A Dream of Spring” could be set in spring, where life blooms and hope is renewed.
Regardless, George R.R. Martin is adamant in not telling how his book ends. The overall flavor of the ending could be bittersweet, at least, if the author is to be believed.
