The first official look at what is to come on George R.R. Martin’s yet to be released “The Winds of Winter” is finally out via the 20th celebratory release of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novel series.
Titled “A Game of Thrones: Enhanced Edition,” which is now available to download through Apple’s iBooks and was released by Random House, brings some new features that will let fans relive the journey that is featured in the books.
Courtesy of a report by Deadline, the bundle includes “interactive content laying out the tortured history of Westeros with character maps, great house summaries, detailed annotations, a substantial glossary, and a new appendix detailing all house sigils, along with other content helping readers make sense of the complex web of alliances and conflicts at the heart of the story.”
“Anything that confuses you, anything you want to know more about, it’s right there at your fingertips,” Martin said in a statement that was sent to Entertainment Weekly, referring to the two-decade celebratory release. “It’s an amazing next step in the world of books.”
But while the digital book transports fans back to where the now popular story began, it also gives a sneak peek on where their remaining favorite characters will move forward to. The “Enhanced Edition” also brings out a snippet from the overdue “The Winds of Winter.” While the latest release from Martin is arguably nowhere near being able to diffuse the clamor for the sixth title from the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, there is no doubt that fans will still gobble up any information they can get a hold of which may lead them with just a hint of what lies on the horizon.
It can be remembered that at the start of the year, a very remorseful Martin had taken to his personal journal site to pen a lengthy post sharing that at that point, he had yet to finish “The Winds of Winter.” Alongside it was his reassurance that he will devote his time to writing the book to make sure it gets rolled out as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he did not give any timeline and until now, already 10 months into the year, there is still no update in regard to his writing process.
“A Game of Thrones: Enhanced Edition” is priced at $8.99 and is now available on iBooks.
