'The Walking Dead' news: Michael Cudlitz explains attraction between Abraham, Sasha

Fans rooting for “The Walking Dead” characters Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) may be disappointed to find out that the connection between the two may not go as far as what they are hoping for.

In a promotional clip for the upcoming episode of AMC’s post apocalyptic series, titled “Knots Untie,” Sasha seems to distance herself from Abraham after the latter admitted that he wants to get to know her better.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” the former United States Army Sergeant says to her to which Sasha replies with, “Nope.” She further explains, “I’m starting a new shift at a watch post. I already talked to Eugene (Josh McDermitt). He wants to help out more. He said he’ll take over my patrol with you.” Abraham then answers, “See you around.”

Although it is not surprising for Sasha to move away from Abraham since he is still in a relationship with Rosita (Christian Serratos), Cudlitz gave light to why his character is attracted to Sasha. “He sees a lot of himself in Sasha, things that he has respected his whole life — the strength that she has on her own,” he shared to Entertainment Weekly.

“I think in a lot of ways he feels like he’s protected Rosita, and he’s brought her to this point through training her, and here is someone that he’s looking at, and he’s seeing an equal who will call him on his bull. So he’s attracted to that,” he added.

The synopsis for the new installment reads, “After Rick (Andrew Lincoln) comes to the realization that Alexandria might not be as safe as he thought, decisions must be made about where to go from here.” It is believed that the characters’ current safe haven will be under fatal threats to be brought about by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his group called The Saviors.

Season 6, episode 11 of “The Walking Dead” airs on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 9 P.M. ET.
