'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers: Characters to revisit their past

Fans only have to wait for five more episodes until the season finale of “Vampire Diaries,” which would also be the end of the supernatural drama series. Lately, the series has been taking the fans back to the past.

In season 8 episode 10, titled “Nostalgia’s a Bitch,” Caroline (Candice King) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) took a trip into Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) mind while the latter was in a catatonic state. It was Sybil’s (Nathalie Kelley) doing. Sybil agreed to help, but, in return, she must have the bell that could kill her. Caroline and Bonnie agreed to find the bell, which apparently is in Matt’s (Zach Roerig) possession. Seline (Kristen Gutoskie) revealed that the bell would release Cade (Wol Parks), who would kill everyone.

Caroline and Bonnie entered Damon’s subconscious and found familiar faces. They met Henry, Damon’s comrade, who told them that Damon Salvatore died during the Civil War. The duo also got re-acquainted with Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Liz (Marguerite MacIntyre), Caroline’s mom. Unfortunately, Liz didn’t know Damon.

Bonnie met Tyler (Michael Trevino) in Damon’s mind. She learned that Damon in his subconscious was human and not a vampire. She returned to reality and asked Stefan to help out.

Stefan went into Damon’s mind and argued with him. Damon returned to normal state and pushed Stefan out of his subconscious. Then, Damon stopped Matt from ringing the bell and asked for forgiveness for killing Vicki.

Sybil and Seline decided to have a truce. However, Cade appeared and killed the two women.

In the upcoming episodes, it is speculated that the characters would take more journeys to their yesteryears. That’s where they probably meet Elena (Nina Dobrev) again. Some believed that Cade’s source of power and his weakness are in the past, and Elena is the only one who has the key.

As The CW’s fantasy series is nearing its end, fans are warned that there will be more revelations and suspense. Surely, the avid followers are looking forward to Elena’s resurrection.

“The Vampire Diaries” season 8 episode 11 is scheduled to air on Friday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
