Is Nina Dobrev returning to the series as Katherine, too?
In the third to the last episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” Kai (Chris Wood) gave Elena’s (Dobrev) casket to Cade (Wol Parks). Cade, then framed the Salvatore brothers to give him the evil-killing dagger in exchange for Elena’s body. While Stefan (Paul Wesley) went to fight with Cade, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) looked for Kai, who had the dagger.
To help Stefan and to weaken Cade, Alaric (Matthew Davis) rang the mystic bell. However, Alaric had to stop because Kai was planning to kill his daughters. Cade overpowered Stefan, and Damon went back to save his brother, but Cade made him choose between Stefan and Elena. The younger Salvatore chose to kill himself instead.
Bonnie (Kat Graham) came and fought Cade to take back Damon’s soul. While they were fighting, Stefan stabbed Cade with the dagger. With Cade’s death, Damon lived again, and Stefan proposed to Caroline (Candice King)
Meanwhile, Bonnie trapped Kai, and he told her that if Cade is dead, Katherine will have the power to take over hell. Bonnie rushed to tell Damon.
Now, there’s only one more episode to go prior to the season finale. and it’s getting more suspenseful. In the upcoming episode titled “We’re Planning a June Wedding,” Stefan seems to finally have his happily ever after with Caroline. However, the said event is not exactly a wedding celebration.
“A wedding is quickly planned in order for Damon and Stefan to lure a dangerous enemy out into the open. This looming threat puts the fate of Mystic Falls in eminent danger and must be destroyed,” according to the synopsis.
As noted in the previous seasons, Katherine is obsessed with Stefan, thus, it’s inevitable that the new hell queen would show up to ruin the supposedly romantic day. But, will Katherine take the bait? The teaser trailer showed an explosion and a woman in a dress who was thrown away.Is the woman Caroline?
The next episode of “The Vampire Diaries” is scheduled to air on March 3 on The CW.
