Season 8 of The CW’s supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries” continues to grow bigger with the addition of more characters to the ensemble.
According to TV Line, the premiere episode will introduce viewers to Georgie. The character is described as an occult research intern with a few demons of her own. It seems like she will be using her knowledge in the aforementioned field study to grapple with her dark past.
Although it remains to be seen who she will get to interact with the most, predictions suggest that Alaric (Matthew Davis) may play a crucial role in her experience. The actress who has landed the part has yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, despite being reunited in the last season, Caroline (Candice King) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) will be facing potential relationship problems posed by a powerful new woman coming to Mystic Falls.
TV Guide shares that the undisclosed newcomer will quickly take a liking to Stefan. She is the type of person who usually gets what she wants even though she has to use questionable methods. But when Stefan is forced to take part in the dangerous life the woman leads, he will carefully balance how to please her without losing himself in the process.
In an interview with the news outlet, King stated, “What the characters feel for each other is very perfect. So the situations aren’t perfect, but the intentions of each character are still really good and that’s what they’re really fighting for through the chaos.”
On a related note, executive producer Julie Plec shared her excitement for the follow-up narrative. Even though the theme of the new run has yet to be revealed, she confirmed that once the network starts announcing episode titles, it will be clear.
When it comes to possible return of Gemini witch Kai (Chris Wood), “Every day in the writer’s room, we’re pitching Kai comeback ideas. Maybe one day we’ll hit on a good one!” the showrunner said.
Season 8 of “The Vampire Diaries” is slated to premiere on Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
