She had fallen into a deep sleep in exchange for Bonnie (Kat Graham) to live a happy life with Enzo (Michael Malarkey). Well, that’s how Elena, played by Nina Dobrev, disappeared from “The Vampire Diaries” series.
Dobrev was last seen in the sixth season of the supernatural drama series. Since then, fans have been asking if she’s going to return in the series. After all, she’s one of the main characters, alongside Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley).
In an interview with The Huffington Post on Build Series, Dobrev, unfortunately, decided not to disclose any hints about Elena’s resurrection as the TV show’s approaching its eighth and final season.
“I haven’t ever told secrets in the past and I’m definitely not going to start now. Sorry guys, I’m not allowed to talk about that,” she said.
Unlike Dobrev, the creator of the CW show Julie Plec was quite blunt in describing the storyline of the season finale.
“I will say that at some point over the course of this season, I would like to see everyone’s face that I can possibly see again, whether it be in the finale or in flashbacks or the characters who are still alive finding their way through Mystic Falls one last time,” Plec told EW.
Plec added that she’s looking forward to the eight season being “worth of passion and enthusiasm” and that she would be disappointed if she won’t be able to find an away to have all characters seen for the last time on screen.
Since Elena’s life is tied up with Bonnie, the latter will have to die in order for the former to live. However, one theory has set forth that there will be a flash forward 60 years later. If it’s true, at least Bonnie will have spent a full life with Enzo before switching lives with Elena.
Or will there be another magical spell for both women to have their happily ever after?
“The Vampire Diaries” season 8 will conclude on March 10.
