The CW’s supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries” is currently taking a three-week hiatus for its eighth and last season. Upon its return, viewers will get to meet the new big bad Arcadius also known as Cade (Wolf Parks) as he arrives in Mystic Falls, courtesy of Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline’s (Candice King) twins.
Titled “Detoured On Some Random Backwoods Path to Hell,” episode 6 will feature Caroline taking drastic measures when her children become the focus of the Siren’s latest plan. She will ensure that nothing gets in the way of keeping her entire family safe.
In a promotional clip, the girls seem to have been abducted by Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Stefan (Paul Wesley) pledges to do everything in his power to save the twins from harm. But the tensions between Alaric and Caroline threaten to fully blow over. As parents of the twins, Alaric and Caroline will face some harsh realities about the future of their family.
On the other hand, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) finds himself unable to fight off Sybil’s latest move. Meanwhile, Stefan explores his subconscious and sets off a chain of events that leaves him faced with a life-changing decision.
Down the line, episode 7 dubbed “The Next Time I Hurt Somebody, It Could Be You” will have the fallout from Cade and Stefan’s interaction. Since it didn’t go well with the new villain, Stefan will be determined to have one thing going right spending Christmas Eve with Caroline.
However, Damon and Sybil crash what could be a romantic dinner together. Joined by Alaric, Matt (Zach Roerig) and Peter (Joel Gretsch), the night quickly takes a dark and twisted turn.
Also, in a series of flashbacks to Stefan’s past, Cade appears to entice him with a mysterious agenda. This leaves the lead protagonist faced with an unimaginable decision he has to make as soon as possible.
Originally slated to air on Nov. 25, episode 6 of “The Vampire Diaries” was moved to Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. EST. It is directed by Wesley and will be followed by episode 7 on Dec. 9.
