In the episode leading to the monumental meeting, fans are given a little bit of history lesson when it was revealed that Klaus was once head over heels in love with Caroline (Candice King). And now that Caroline is in a relationship with Stefan, a friction between the two vampires may always be possible.
Unfortunately, for everyone who is hoping for some action between Klaus and Stefan, Plec revealed that chances are, everything is cool between the two.
“Stefan’s now with Caroline, and Klaus, of course, has just gone through everything he’s gone through with Cami,” Plec explained via TV Line.
Furthermore, she revealed that instead, the two will have an interesting conversation based on shared history when it comes to love. “They actually have a surprisingly civil and honest conversation about love what it means and the sacrifices that you have to make in the name of it.”
The 43-year-old producer also shared how the crossover came to be by recalling, “Joe said, ‘I’ll happily do it on ‘The “=Vampire Diaries,’ but can we do this on ‘The Originals,’ too?’ We said, ‘If we can come up with something good, absolutely.'”
She later added that as they went through the process, they realized that they already had the perfect storyline to mesh the two shows together.
“The sire line and the war [between] all the trinity, and the prophecy saying that one of these Originals will die or all of them will fall. The fear of that impacts Stefan directly, and so he sticks around for an ‘Originals’ episode to participate in the latest dilemma to come out of that situation.”
“The Vampire Diaries” will be back with brand new episodes on Jan. 29 on CW.
