As Candice King, the atress who plays Caroline in The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” prepares to take her maternity leave, showrunner Julie Plec has assured fans that she has already shot all of her scenes for the upcoming episodes, so her temporary departure will not disrupt the flow of the show.
Plec also assured fans that Caroline would most definitely be back before the season is over, reported E! News.
“She hasn’t given birth yet. She’s due in a couple of weeks. But she’ll be back for the end of the season,” she said.
Writers have written King’s pregnancy into her storyline by having Alaric’s twin daughters magically transferred into her body.
According to Plec, King will be gone for only four episodes in total and will return by episode 16.
Meanwhile, as Alaric and Caroline prepare to welcome their babies, the second half of season 7 will see them developing an even closer relationship, Design and Trends reported.
However, Caroline will still be having trouble moving on from her feelings for Stefan.
Some conflict is also expected when Caroline learns of Alaric’s plans for the twins which she will not be amenable to.
In an interview, executive producer Caroline Dries also bared that Enzo and Bonnie will end up together when the show features a three-year time jump. However, things will not go as smoothly as someone from Enzo’s past will appear.
“As he’s trying to find his place in the world, she comes in and says, ‘Let me help you out with that.’ Is she good? Is she bad? What’s her bigger agenda? We’ll pull back her layers as the season goes on,” Dries said.
Tyler, played by Michael Trevino, will also be featured in episode 10, as he attends Caroline’s baby shower.
