Klaus wakes up to a possible war and new big bad gunning for his life when “The Originals” returns for its fourth season.
The first episode of “The Originals” season 4 will begin five years after the events of the previous season and will see Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) finally waking up from the deep sleep that his protg Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis) has put him in. Since no further detail has been given about this moment, fans are now speculating about the possible reasons and motivations behind Klaus’ revival.
Rumor has it that Marcel himself will wake Klaus up when a vicious villain named Alistair Duquesne (Neil Jackson) comes to town seeking revenge on the original hybrid for a hundred-year grudge. Some are saying that Hope, Klaus’s daughter with vampire-werewolf hybrid Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin), will be responsible for liberating her father from Marcel’s secret dungeon. A five-year jump will see Hope grow into a powerful seven-year-old with a mixture of vampire, werewolf and witch genes.
Another thing that fans are speculating about is Klaus’ retaliation against his formerly beloved son, Marcel. Will he kill Marcel when he wakes up? Executive producer Julie Plec said via Entertainment Weekly that this may not be the case as Klaus will be very aware of the fact that Marcel’s protection is the reason why he is still alive after a five-year coma.
However, this does not mean that Klaus and Marcel will finally move past their differences and reconcile. In an interview with TV Insider, Morgan said that a war could ensue now that Marcel has once again taken New Orleans away from The Mikaelsons.
There are also rumors about Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, and Nina Dobrev from “The Vampire Diaries” possibly joining the cast of “The Originals” season 4, although no official statement has been made about this yet.
“The Originals” season 4 has been rescheduled for a midseason premiere and is rumored to be released in early 2017.
