A older Hope will make her debut when The CW’s supernatural series “The Originals” returns to the small screen for season 4 after its hiatus.

According to TV Line, the daughter of vampire Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) and werewolf Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) will have a beefed up role following the five-year time jump teased by the cast members in this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Portraying the part is “Basic Witches” actress Summer Fontana, with production having reportedly started earlier last week.

During the convention, Tonkin dropped some hints about her on-screen daughter stating, “I’m excited to see what kind of personality this little girl has. Even though she hasn’t been around her dad for the last five years, I think there’s a lot of Klaus in her good or bad and I’m excited to see that in this little powerful witch.”

It is speculated that Klaus will not be able to recognize his 7-year-old kid as he will not be around during the years that she grew up. Morgan mused that he believes his character will be “nervous to meet her” when they cross paths in the future.

When it comes to the narrative, the upcoming installment is predicted to reveal Hayley’s journey in bringing back Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Rebekah (Claire Holt), Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) and Freya (Riley Voelkel) from eternal sleep due to the curse they inflicted to save themselves from a close call with death.

However, the feat may not be easy as challenges will be posed by touted new villains and from Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) who continues to seek vengeance for Davina’s (Danielle Campbell) demise. As for the latter, it is assumed that he may have found peace with Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood) but it remains to be seen if the peace between the creatures will continue.

Aside from Fontana, several newcomers are also set to join the ensemble. These include “Sleepy Hollow” actor Neil Jackson and “Containment” actress Christina Moses.

Season 4 of “The Originals” is expected to air sometime in 2017.
