Although the fourth season of The CW’s “The Originals” is already confirmed, its absence in the recently announced 20162017 fall schedule by the network only means one thing: there’s no plan for it to be aired this year.
Fans of “The Vampire Diaries” spin-off don’t have to worry though because it only means that season 4 is more likely going to premiere early in 2017, most probably January. So what should viewers expect in the coming season?
In a recent interview, Danielle Campbell, who plays Davina Claire in the series, handed out a clue that her character has the potential of making a return in season 4, although she also was quick to say that nothing is cast in stone as of the moment. To recall, Davina heroically sacrificed herself to save everyone else. In the previous season, she joined “The Sisters” with the hope of getting what she needed to resurrect Kol Mikaelson (Nathaniel Buzolic). Although she managed to bring her lover back, she eventually was killed by him due to the wrath of the “Ancestors.”
And since Kol did come back from the dead, it will no longer be a surprise if Davina will be revived, too. After all, the entire series revolves around characters with supernatural abilities. So bringing her back to the world should be a walk in the park.
Meanwhile, there’s also a possibility that several new characters will be added to season 4, more particularly Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in “The Vampire Diaries.” His character in the original series is supposedly going to make an exit in order to jump to the spin-off.
Finally, the show’s executive producer Michael Narducci talked to TV Line about what Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) will do after the fall of the Mikaelsons. He said that she might just find a way to reach out to them via dreams and eventually help them heal.
