It’s still a long wait for fans before they can dig their teeth into season 4 of “The Originals” but that does not mean that no teasers will come out beforehand which will be enough to keep them interested. In fact, on top of all the straight-up goodies that the recently held San Diego Comic-Con brought, another casting has been confirmed with actor Neil Jackson joining the series.
Things are still in the down-low with regard to the specifics of the character, only that the “Sleepy Hollow” alum will play a vampire named Alistair who has come to The Big Easy to settle a centuries-old tiff with Joseph Morgan’s Klaus.
Given that when the show commences its fourth year, the original vampire will still be very much incapacitated, it might take some time before his old enemy gets to him. But that does not mean that viewers will not be able to see Alistair sooner. It appears that he will be taking his time looking for Klaus and he will be leaving some casualties along the way. Unfortunately, Yusuf Gatewood’s Vincent might be the first in line.
Meanwhile, in terms of the overall narrative, “The Originals” will come back almost the same as how viewers last saw it, despite the five-year time jump. Nevertheless, Hayley still continues, albeit quietly, to find a way to resurrect the Mikaelson siblings. Phoebe Tonkin, who plays the hybrid, talked a little bit about what she and daughter Hope will be up to when the series comes back on air.
“When we met Hayley, all she ever wanted was family,” Tonkin started. “Through the events that happened, she created a family on her own with her daughter. I don’t think she feels alone one, because she has five bodies in the back of her car and because she has a purpose, a family-driven purpose.”
So, how exactly is Hayley going to have the Mikaelsons back in tip-top shape? Executive producer Michael Narducci says she will need to “locate the seven werewolf packs … so she has a very difficult journey ahead of her. She has to explore the werewolf side that’s going to connect her to those packs.”
Season 4 of “The Originals'” is scheduled to debut sometime early next year.
