It seems that Tom Hiddleston will be coming back to the small screen for a possible second season of “The Night Manager” miniseries.

“The Ink Factory, BBC and AMC are in the early stages of developing a potential second series of The Night Manager, but nothing is definite yet and we have nothing to announce,” a BBC spokesperson informed Hollywood Reporter recently to clarify the rumored second season.

BBC One’s original six-part miniseries was created as a one-off show. It is based on the 1993 best-selling novel of the same title by John le Carr, and David Farr adapted the book into a TV series. The espionage-inspired series premiered in February 2016. Then, it started to air on AMC in the U.S. in April.

The highly-acclaimed series centered on the life of Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston), a luxury hotel’s night manager. A former British soldier, Pine was employed by Angela Burr (Olivia Colman), an intelligence operative. The night manager was tasked to investigate Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie), the mastermind of the international arms trafficking.

In order to bring down the culprit, Pine had to infiltrate Roper’s illegal operation. He eventually won Roper’s trust after saving the latter’s son. Unfortunately, to keep his true motives, Pine was forced to participate on his new boss’ arms trading. Adding to his struggle were Roper’s girlfriend, Jed (Elizabeth Debicki), and his suspicious business associate, Major Corcoran (Tom Hollander).

Directed by Susanne Bier, the miniseries garnered 12 awards, including two Emmy Awards for Bier and music composer Victor Reyes; and three Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actor for Hiddleston, Best Performance by a Supporting Actor for Laurie, and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for Colman.

An insider reported to The Sun that Laurie will be back in the upcoming season to reprise his role.

“Hugh, Tom and Olivia all won Golden Globes for their roles in ‘The Night Manager’ and there’s real desire to reunite them. Although most people will think Roper’s days were numbered, there’s ways to bring him back as he was not killed off,” the source said.
