'The Last Ship' season 3 release date June 12; New characters as crew sails to China and Japan

Fans can finally mark their calendars for the premiere episode of TNT’s action drama series “The Last Ship” season 3 as the release date has been officially scheduled on June 12 at 9 P.M. ET.

According to Deadline, Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) returns to the small screen with a special two-hour premiere picking up where last season’s cliffhanger finale left off.

Viewers may remember that when the crew of Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James finally went on a journey to Asia, President Michener (Mark Moses) found out that the Chinese leader President Peng (Fernando Chien) is gathering a cure for the devastating pandemic instead of distributing it to people in the region.

Chandler will then investigate the situation amidst rumors that a possible new virus mutation is observed in Japan. Problems are predicted to occur as the so-called “Scott Cure” may be limited as Rachel Scott’s fate after being shot in the second season’s final episode remains unknown.

A brand-new trailer was first unveiled in the recently held WonderCon in Los Angeles, California before it was launched online. The shpw follows the story of William Brinkley’s popular novel of the same title, which chronicles a worldwide catastrophe that almost erases the world’s human population.

Newcomers to the show include Stephen Oyoung as Lau Hu; LaMonica Garrett as LT. TAO Cameron Burk, brother of Carlton (Sims); Elisabeth Rohm as Alsison, the chief of staff to Michener; Dichen Lachman as Jesse, described to be an off the grid pilot with secrets; Bridget Regan as Sasha Cooper, a former Naval Intelligence working for US in China; and Eidan Hanzei whose details for the role are yet to be revealed.

As fans wait for the new installment, they may get their hands on the upcoming Blu-ray version of season 2, slated to be released on May 3.
