Until now, Naughty Dog still has nothing to say about the development of the highly anticipated sequel to 2013’s critically-acclaimed title, “The Last of Us.” Albeit recent reports suggesting that creative director and writer Neil Druckmann may have hinted at the game’s sequel, these recent talks most likely lack sauce.
As per the latest news that has been making rounds, Druckmann is said to have been working on a preliminary version of the rumored game installment and reports further explain that its development is under wraps.
Moreover, the multi-awarded writer stated that aside from the undisclosed development of “The Last of Us 2,” his development staff are at the same time back on the drawing board working on another game segment for their equally engaging title, “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”
As such, “The Last of Us 2” may take some time before it can even be announced so the rumored 2018 release window is highly unlikely. Instead, game analysts are eyeing on a 2021 release. The sequel would be eight years in the making if its fruition would tally with the said target time frame.
Meanwhile, Druckmann was asked how his team was coping with the latest technologies in gaming that have been popping up as of late, such as the advent of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The writer made a rather uncertain response by saying that they are not quite sure what the future will bring them. However, he further explained that he is excited about it since certain parts of both VR and AR have yet to be discovered and it will be a charm to narrate the game in that manner as soon as it is brought to light.
Furthermore, it was reported some weeks ago that the sequel is said to feature Ellie as the main character and will pick up after what transpired during the first game from which many were left confused with its conclusion. Most fans are now anticipating the next title that will definitely shed some light on the questions left by “The Last of Us.”
