While the long rumored sequel to the hit and critically acclaimed “The Last of US” may not be too far from being a reality, fans might still wait longer time as game developer Naughty Dog currently has their attention off the franchise but will focus on it again soon.
Rumors regarding the release date or announcement of the much awaited game have been circulating for several months now. Still, game developer Naughty Dog has been unable to share significant official details about the game, which led the fans to rely on speculations and alleged leaks about it.
However, a recent report revealed that the game developer is indeed working on the earliest stages of a sequel for the game franchise, but the work has been put into hiatus due to the company’s focus and attention being devoted to their yet another much awaited game “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.”
According to a report, Naughty Dog may be shifting back their focus “The Last of Us” once they finish releasing the first DLC for the game “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.” Game director and “The Last of Us” creative director Neil Druckmann shared the story behind this.
“Before my partner, Bruce [Straley] and I, my directing partner, came on to ‘Uncharted 4’ we were working on prototypes for different ideas within The Last Of Us universe,” Druckmann said. “Without going into specific genres [there were] ideas outside the ‘The Last Of Us.'”
However, when he got involved in “Uncharted 4,” all the work for “The Last of Us” was put on hold for a while.
“All those things were left on hold when we had to come onto ‘Uncharted 4’ to direct the project,” he shared. But they will soon go back to it, it seems. “Our next focus is the single player [Uncharted 4] DLC and then, once we have enough resources, resurrect all those prototypes; see where we’re at, see where the teams at, what they’re excited for and go from there.”
It is expected that Naughty Dog will make an announcement regarding the sequel game come E3 2016, which will kick off in June.
