It has been 12 years since “The Incredibles” premiered in theaters all over the world, and fans have been waiting for a sequel which will feature the new adventures of the Parr family. In 2014, it was announced that “The Incredibles 2” was in development, but fans will have to wait a little longer to see the film as it is slated to premiere in 2019.
Since the sequel was announced, there has been a ton of speculation about the new movie’s plot, particularly who will emerge as the new villain in the sequel. Fan theories claim that Dash the middle child with super-speed powers will likely be the new big bad of the second movie.
The new movie is expected to have a time jump, which will see Dash as a teenager. Reddit user Professor_Wonder pointed out several ways why the villain claim could be spot-on, saying that apart from the fact that teenage boys have a tendency to act out when forced to control themselves, Dash is also a middle child. Some believe that middle children often get overlooked by their parents as they focus on the eldest or the youngest of the brood.
The Redditor’s full theory is that Dash gets taken in by a former maker of caped suits who wants to get back at the superheroes by designing a suit for Dash that will give him all of his family’s superpowers. If Dash gets his father’s super-strength, his mother’s flexibility, and his sister’s shielding powers, then he could prove to be a formidable enemy for everyone in the family. The Reddit user claims that Jack-Jack, with his numerous superpowers, could be the one to stop Dash from descending completely into the dark side.
It has been almost a year since director Brad Bird gave an update on “The Incredibles 2,” and Bird has been staying quiet on social media since December. Back in September, the director told Collider that he already had the story arc and was “probably three-quarters through the script.” Bird also confirmed that most of the people who worked on the first film are on board for the sequel.
“The Incredibles 2” will be in theaters on June 21, 2019.
