Callie (Maia Mitchell) gets suspended from school and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) will be dealing with shakers who blame her for Nick’s (Louis Hunter) actions in the brand-new installment of Freeform’s “The Fosters” season 4.
The show returns from a week-long hiatus with episode 3 titled “Trust.” The synopsis reveals that following the recent school lockdown, other students will call out Mariana and accuse her of being responsible for her former boyfriend’s meltdown.
Callie also receives some taunting from her peers. Presumably fed up with the situation, she will lash out and her inappropriate reaction will get her suspended. However, what starts off as a punishment will turn out to be a great adventure. She eventually meets Aaron (Elliot Fletcher), a handsome young law student who is clueless about her past.
Elsewhere, Taylor (Izabela Vidovic) invites Jude (Hayden Byerly) to her church youth group. The latter then takes advantage of the opportunity and questions the former about her true motives.
The promotional teaser for the upcoming episode opens up with the Fosters watching Nick on handcuffs and being taken away by the police. The narrator says, “Their family was almost torn apart. Now this summer they will fight to pick up the pieces.”
Meanwhile, Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) confront Callie for having sexual intercourse with her foster brother Brandon (David Lambert). “We have made a decision,” Lena announces, to which the teen quips with, “Are you going to undo my adoption?”
When Callie asks Brandon to come home as he is currently living with his girlfriend Cortney (Denyse Tontz), he says no and added, “How are we supposed to live under the same roof anyway?”
The clip ends with Mariana visiting Nick to possibly find some peace of mind and closure. In an interview with TV Guide, Ramirez previously revealed that her character will feel the repercussions of what Nick did as she moves forward.
“It’s definitely going to set the mood for Mariana for the rest of the season. It’s going to put her in a very dark place. She’s left with this guilt that she thought it was all because of her. It’s definitely something she’s going to have to live with every day,” she concluded.
Season 4 episode 3 is slated to air on Monday, July 11 at 8 p.m. EST.
