The third season of “The Flash” will see Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) dealing with the repercussions of changing the timeline in the Flashpoint event. Things won’t certainly be the same in Barry’s world, and on top of all that, the speedster will also have to deal with the arrival of new villains coming to Central City in season 3.
The new installment of The CW series will feature another speedster as its main villain Savitar. While some might think that the new villain bears a lot of similarity to last season’s Zoom (Teddy Sears), executive producer Todd Helbing said that Savitar will be very different from previous speedsters who appeared in the series.
“Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way,” said Helbing to IGN. “I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he’s all about speed…I can’t go into super detail, but he’s not like Zoom or Reverse Flash.” Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher) will also be returning this season, as he was seen in the promo trailer mocking Barry for the choices he made.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Joey King (“Fargo”) has been cast as Magenta in season 3. The character is a meta-human who has the ability to control metal, and on Monday, Aug 22, the actress shared a first-look photo of her as the villain on Twitter. The photo shows King with pink hair and violet eyes, and it was captioned, “I’m coming for you Flash #Magenta.”
Other villains who will be seen in the new installment include The Top (Ashley Rickards) and Mirror Master (Grey Damon). According to E! Online, Rickards and Damon will make their debut in the fourth episode of season 3. The fourth episode will be an origin story for Mirror Master and will also mark the return of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold.
“It’s the origin story of him, but it’s this struggle between Mirror Master and Captain Cold and you get to see who comes out on top,” Helbing said to E! News.
“The Flash” season 3 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
