'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date: remastered version of 'Skyrim' is Bethesda's focus for now

Bethesda Game Studios’ hotly anticipated fantasy video game series, “The Elder Scrolls” is up for another release, but the company is keeping itself utterly silent and tight-lipped about when the upcoming game is really coming, prompting all kinds of rumors from its fans and observers alike.

Unlike other approaching games though, “The Elder Scrolls VI,” as what it is called for the moment, has been previously confirmed by Bethesda to be part of its plans in the future. Nonetheless, its release date remains to be nothing more than a guessing game at this point.

Bethesda’s vice president Pete Hines revealed on Twitter the only official detail that fans can lean on when it comes to the possibility of the game being developed. Hines mentioned that “The Elder Scrolls VI” is definitely in their plans, but also was quite quick to admit that it isn’t Bethesda’s priority for the moment.

There are rumors that the next installment won’t be coming in the immediate future since Bethesda seems to be quite busy at this point, with several other game titles lined up for their respective releases this year and next year. Therefore, the best bet for “The Elder Scrolls VI’s” release date is sometime in 2018.

Per Christian Times, the new game is reportedly a follow-up to the previous game, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” which by the way will have a remastered version that Bethesda is scheduled to release next month for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One platforms. With the possibility of the sixth game title being a direct sequel to “Skyrim,” the publication noted that it actually might be called “Skyrim 2.”

So what fans of the “TES” franchise can do right now is wait for the next best thing to come out, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.”
