'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date update: Bethesda finally working on forthcoming installment?

With the final expansion for “Fallout 4” having been released with Nuka-World, there are rumors that Bethesda could already be transitioning to “The Elder Scrolls” franchise. After all, the developers seem to be a little inclined with its other cornerstone series with the upcoming release of the remastered version of “Skyrim” and even “The Elder Scrolls: Legends.”

The special version of “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” is about to hit the shelves next month, specifically on Oct. 28, both for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users. It will be coming as a complete package with all three downloadable content (DLC) tweaked for graphical updates. Meanwhile, the collectible card video game “Legends” still has no specific rollout date but is expected to see the light of day before the year ends.

Given this, could it also possibly mean that Bethesda is already gearing for a bigger release for “The Elder Scrolls,” say the much anticipated “The Elder Scrolls 6?” Based on everything that the Maryland-based company has said on the record so far, this may not be the case. Both “Skyrim” game director Todd Howard and Bethesda vice president Pete Hines have been very forthcoming that the new installment would not be coming anytime soon.

“We actually have two other large projects we’re also doing that are bigger than anything we’ve done,” Todd said during YouTube’s Live at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) stream last June (via Digital Spy). “People will probably hear about those probably even before ‘Elder Scrolls 6.’ And that’ll make sense many years from now.”

Hines separately echoed the sentiments and continues to do so saying that as of now, the game is not yet near the horizon. At one point, he even shared that unlike other developers, they will not be implementing a long, drawn-out release of teasers for the title. Instead, they will open the floodgates of information once it is almost time to actually debut the game. Perhaps the only takeaway that die-hard fans of the franchise can get is the consolation of knowing that “The Elder Scrolls 6” is actually going to happen. The only question is when it is going to happen.
