'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date is still a long way from its debut

For a second, fans of “The Elder Scrolls” video game series rejoiced over the fact that Bethesda finally confirmed that the follow-up game, “The Elder Scrolls 6,” is in production. But the elation lasted for just mere seconds when it was revealed that while it does exist, it is still a long way before it finally sees the light of day.

During the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Todd Howard, director and executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, explained the company’s projects in the pipeline three new titles, one of which is “The Elder Scrolls 6.” Unfortunately, however, it is presumed to be the last in their list of priorities right now as Howard explains that they are planning to release the other two games first.

Despite this, the veteran video game designer assured that fans that just because “The Elder Scrolls 6” is last in line does not mean that they are giving it the least attention. In fact, he acknowledges the support, as well as clamor, for a new iteration coming to the aforementioned franchise.

“[Elder Scrolls 6 is] kind of like the elephant in the room, always, when we talk about anything,” Howard explained, “I think it’s good in these moments to tell our fans yes, of course we are [working on it] it’s something we love but it is… you know, I have to be careful what I say, it’s a very long way off.”

Far off as it may seem, fans can find solace that Bethesda is making the wait all worth it. On top of that, he also detailed that looking at the big picture, rolling out the yet to be named games first before “The Elder Scrolls 6” will eventually make so much sense.

“We think very long term. We’re not a developer that’s going to rush something like this out,” he said referring to the much awaited installment of the title. “When you think about what is the future of that kind of game, we have a pretty good idea of what that’s going to be, and it’s just going to take technology and time we don’t necessarily have right now.”

These sentiments were reiterated by company vice president Peter Hines. He recently told a fan via his official Twitter account that it will still take years and years before “The Elder Scrolls 6” comes out.
