Viewers may finally find out what Raymond “Red” Reddington’s (James Spader) connection to Elizabeth “Liz” Keen’s (Megan Boone) past is in the upcoming season 4 of NBC’s “The Blacklist.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Boone shared that there is a definite possibility that questions about her character’s secretive life may finally be answered, “What it’s starting to look like is we are really delving into Liz’s past and exposing a lot of things that have been withheld throughout the series. So I can’t say confidently, but I think so.”
Meanwhile, during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Spader showcased a teaser of the premiere titled “Esteban” in which Red meets up with a couple of guys inside a restaurant.
The clip features Red having a conversation with the Blacklister when one of the cheeky dudes suddenly refers to him as the “concierge of crime, man in the hat, spy who stayed out in the cold.” After disposing of the guy’s partner quickly, Red interestingly refers to “that sample.” However, it remains to be seen what the sample is all about.
Season 4 picks up from where the previous installment left off. It is slated to premiere on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. ET. The synopsis reads, “After Liz is abducted by a man claiming to be her father, Red sets out to find her at any cost. Meanwhile, the Task Force grapples with the shocking news that Liz is still alive.”
Meanwhile, episode 2 dubbed “Mato” will air on Sept. 29 and it will see Red and Tom (Ryan Eggold) continuing their hunt for the missing profiler. The description teases that Red will enlist the latter and the Task Force to track down a notorious bounty hunter who may know Alexander Kirk’s (Ulrich Thomsen) next move. On the other hand, Liz struggles to decide if the touted villain is trustworthy.
